Blind Side tackles box office

December 6th, 2009 No comments

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Football film “The Blind Side” tackled the top spot at North American box offices with $20.4 million in ticket sales for a rare climb up the charts in its third week, according to studio estimates on Sunday.

Vampire romance “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” dropped one place from last weekend to No. 2 with $15.7 million in ticket sales, and new release “Brothers,” about soldiers returning home from war, landed in third place with $9.7 million.

The rise of “The Blind Side” bucks the accepted Hollywood wisdom that a new film will claim the No. 1 spot in its first week, then drop down the charts in subsequent weeks.

Tinker Bell and The Lost Treasure

December 6th, 2009 No comments

Film: Tinker Bell and The Lost Treasure (Animation)
Cast: Voice of Mae Whitman, Jesse McCartney
Direction: Klay Hall
Duration: 1 hour 21 minutes

Disney still draws the line when it comes to animation, despite the surge of other production houses like Pixar and Dreamworks. The colours and the characters of Tinker Bell create a living-breathing canvas that’s pure art. More importantly, the film is a must-learn lesson for Indian animators who need to take the big leap in this growing field.

This one’s an archetypal fairy tale that gladdens the heart of kids and adults alike. Tinker, with her strapless green dress, her gossamer wings and her golden bun is a fiery little fairy who literally sees red when she loses her cool. And she does loose it quite often. So much so, she even manages to break the fragile and precious moonstone in a fit of fury.
