The Hindi film and television industry will pay homage to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack on Thursday evening. General secretary of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees has sent out notices to film and producers to stop shooting for five minutes on 26/11 at 7pm.

He said, “In order to commemorate and pay homage to the martyrs who died during terrorist attack last year November 26, 2008 all affiliates have been advised to observe the Martyr’s Day with a 2-minute silence at 7 pm.’’

New Delhi: The macho man of the industry, Salman Khan, as famous for his bada dil and biceps as for his fierce temper, getting slapped by a pampered rich girl? Phew! It’s hard to sink in.

But that’s what happened at a private party in a Delhi hotel recently, if reports are to go by.

Salman, his brother Sohail Khan and a bunch of other tinsel town folks including Sushmita Sen, Riya Sen, Raima Sen, Shibani Kashyap and the musician bros Aman and Ayan Ali Khan were enjoying themselves at a party after a fashion show by Sanjana Jon when a girl named Monika, apparently drunk and out of control, tried to barge in the party.

According to reports, she was a builder’s daughter and she raved and ranted about her connections when not allowed to enter the party. In fact, she even used foul language against some Bollywood celebs present there. When Salman tried to intervene and reason out with her, guess what the bratty gal did? She slapped him.

And how did the moody and mercurial Khan react?

Nopes! He didn’t slap her back. He kept his cool and let the security guys take her away.

The Bollywood connection of suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative David Coleman Headley is getting murkier by the day.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is expected to question the kin of producers and directors acquainted with the US terror suspect, who was allegedly plotting terror attacks in India. Among the famous names doing the rounds is that of an actor known for his sensuous films and an actress known for her stylish dress sense.

A television channel speculated that the actor was Emraan Hashmi. But none of the senior police officers in Mumbai were willing to confirm the names. According to NIA officials, Headley had befriended the actor and the actress during the shoot of a thriller produced under the Mahesh Bhatt banner. Sources said they could have met through Bhatt’s son, Rahul.

Officials said they had not given anyone a clean chit. But they claimed that the film personalities, including Rahul, may not have been aware of Headley’s terrorist links when they met him.

“It is wrong to say the investigators are detaining people. They are only trying to find out what Headley was up to, whether he had asked for any specific help or details about a particular project,” said an officer.

The details came even as Pune police found that Headley had visited the Osho Ashram in the city’s Koregaon Park twice, in 2008 and 2009. The ashram receives many foreign visitors.

Maa Amrut Sadhana of the ashram admitted that Headley had visited the ashram twice but said they had no idea about his antecedents.

“We are cooperating with the police. Anybody can come here for meditation by simply registering with us,” she said.

Akshay and other female contestants danced to the tune of his new movie, ‘Blue’. Akshay selected Poonam Dhillon as the best dancer in the end.

Bigg Boss again decided to play hide-and-seek game with the inmates, by announcing that they will have the authority to decide who will be out of the house this week. When the inmates were given the option to choose between Kamal R Khan and Sherlyn Chopra, they all voted against Kamal Khan.

New Delhi, Oct 12(IANS) Veteran Bollywood director filmmaker Yash Chopra was honoured as the Asian filmmaker of the year at the ongoing 14th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) in South Korea.

The filmmaker was felicitated by film festival director Kim Dong-ho Friday.

‘You have to prove that you’re good once again. You’re only as good as your last film,’ Chopra said in a brief acceptance speech.

Chopra’s production house Yash Raj Films also had a strong presence at PIFF considering his popular films, including ‘Lamhe’, ‘Dhoom 2′, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘New York’, were showcased in a retrospective section at the fest.

Kabir Khan, who directed ‘New York’, which is about three friends and the impact of 9/11 on their friendship, was also present at the event.

PIFF, one of the largest film festivals in Asia, is being held Oct 8-16.

New Delhi: Stung by the Supreme Court’s earlier stand on the statue-memorials issue, the UP administration seems to be taking court matters very seriously now. The UP police has sent a notice to rape accused, Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja, asking him to keep his promise to shift to Delhi.

Shiney Ahuja was granted bail in the sensational rape case by the Bombay High Court on the condition that he would “move out of Mumbai”. The actor is reported to have stated in his affidavit to the court that he would be shifting to his father’s house in Delhi. But instead, he started staying at his father’s second house in Noida.

The realisation dawned on the Noida police after Shiney, under court directions, produced himself at the Sector 20, Noida police station. “We have gone through the court orders and Shiney’s affidavit. When he told the court that he would be staying in Delhi, he has no business to be in Noida. He should be staying in Delhi and reporting to a police station there,” said a senior Noida police office.

Zayed even gifted Kylie a designer sari, the Indian traditional wear, on the last day of the shoot.

The gift took Kylie by surprise more so because it was a sari. She wondered how Zayed knew the size that’d befit her. Kylie later even asked Zayed about it. Zayed told her, “It was just that I kept my wife’s size in mind. Kylie was touched by Zayed’s friendly gesture,” said our source.

Mumbai, Sep 17 (IANS) Actor Zayed Khan says he is learning ‘the hard way’. He was supposed to sing and dance to a solo number in the film ‘Blue’, but was shocked to be informed that he would not be the only one to feature in it.

The same song has been turned into a group number and is being shot with Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif and, of course, Zyed in the film by Tony D’Souza.

‘I’m learning my lessons the hard way. In this industry it’s always the big fish eating up the little fish (an apt description considering our film ‘Blue’ is an underwater sea adventure). Fine. Hopefully, one day I’ll get there,’ said Zayed, who is shooting in Delhi for ‘Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene’.

‘But when I do I can assure I won’t behave the same way. But no more being taken for granted. I can’t afford it,’ he added.

As for not participating in the number, he said: ‘I was thinking of not participating in the shooting. If I am not considered important enough, no point in hanging around. But then I decided to be professional about this. I’m flying from Delhi to Mumbai for the song.’

Zayed, however, absolves the ‘Blue’ director of all blame.

D’Souza says, ‘Yes, we’re shooting a song with the entire cast next week. I’d really like Zayed to be part of it. Because he’s a very important and pivotal part of ‘Blue’. This film will take him to another level.’

New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Salman Khan made special arrangements for a chopper for his co-star Kareena Kapoor while shooting for ‘Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ when he found that the actress was running late for her next shoot.

Directed by debutant Prem Soni, the film revolves around the theme of an extramarital affair and is a joint venture between Sohail Khan Productions and UTV SpotBoy Pictures.

‘When anybody is a part of Sohail Khan Productions, Salman Khan takes full care of the actor. The artiste is under his wings… Kareena had to reach another important shoot that day but did not know what to do,’ said a source from the production unit.

‘Salman instantly made arrangements for a chopper for her. It was thanks to his timely arrangement that Kareena could make it on time for the other shoot,’ the source added.

Releasing Oct 16, the movie also stars Sohail Khan.
