Ranbir plays the spurned lover again

September 28th, 2009 No comments

Mumbai, Sep 27 (IANS) Do we see a pattern here? What’s it with Ranbir Kapoor playing the spurned lover over and over again?

He started his career with ‘Saawariya’ where he worshipped the ground that Sonam Kapoor walked on. She had eyes only for Salman.

Then in ‘Bachna Ae Haseenon’, Deepika Padukone said a flat no to Ranbir’r proposal. And now in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ Ranbir again wooes the girl with his one-sided attentions, almost playing Katrina Kaif’s faithful poodle hanging around her unconditionally.

Raj Kumar Santoshi, who returns to comedy after 15 years, says he wanted Ranbir to play the unrequited lover-boy with a difference.

”Ajab Prem…is a film about unrequited love. I didn’t want Ranbir to play the loser in love as a tragic hero. Chaplin and Ranbir’s grandfather Raj Kapoor excelled in playing tragic losers in love,’ Santoshi maintained

Hasn’t Ranbir already done the role of an unrequited lover in ‘Saawariya’?

Santoshi agreed: ‘Yes. But not in this zany and upbeat way. Though Ranbir’s character loses out in love, he doesn’t lose heart for even a second. He remains blindly devoted and besotted right till the end while Katrina just keeps taking him for granted.’

In Bollywood, big fish eat little fish: Zayed Khan

September 17th, 2009 No comments

Mumbai, Sep 17 (IANS) Actor Zayed Khan says he is learning ‘the hard way’. He was supposed to sing and dance to a solo number in the film ‘Blue’, but was shocked to be informed that he would not be the only one to feature in it.

The same song has been turned into a group number and is being shot with Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif and, of course, Zyed in the film by Tony D’Souza.

‘I’m learning my lessons the hard way. In this industry it’s always the big fish eating up the little fish (an apt description considering our film ‘Blue’ is an underwater sea adventure). Fine. Hopefully, one day I’ll get there,’ said Zayed, who is shooting in Delhi for ‘Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene’.

‘But when I do I can assure I won’t behave the same way. But no more being taken for granted. I can’t afford it,’ he added.

As for not participating in the number, he said: ‘I was thinking of not participating in the shooting. If I am not considered important enough, no point in hanging around. But then I decided to be professional about this. I’m flying from Delhi to Mumbai for the song.’

Zayed, however, absolves the ‘Blue’ director of all blame.

D’Souza says, ‘Yes, we’re shooting a song with the entire cast next week. I’d really like Zayed to be part of it. Because he’s a very important and pivotal part of ‘Blue’. This film will take him to another level.’

September 5th, 2009 No comments

Bollywood Trade News Network

And when you talk of a film based on underwater sequences, how can you miss out on the most adorable sea animals – the dolphins?

In Shree Ashtavinayak’s BLUE directed by debutant director Anthony D’Souza, you can see Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta frolicking with the dolphins!

The audiences will get to see Sanjay and Lara cavorting delightfully with the sea creatures in a romantic song ‘Aaj Dil Gustak Hai’ in the film.

Says director Anthony, “It was very difficult to shoot with the wild spotted dolphins and we had to travel overnight to Bimini to shoot with them. It was well worth all the efforts as the outcome was spectacular! We were extremely lucky to find a cluster of them and the delightful tricks which the dolphins learnt especially for the song make for a visual treat.”

The song has been picturised on the actors playing with wild dolphins in all their majestic glory in Bimini Islands. There were also scenes which required them to shoot at close range for which they had specially trained dolphins at the dolphin encounters! These mammals were specially taught tricks which are shown in the film. Not just the actors even the dolphins were trained for their roles!!!

Even after the required shots, Sanjay and Lara would stay back in the dolphin encounters and play with the dolphins!!! And being very intelligent creatures, the mammals picked up the tricks very fast and were loved and petted by the entire team!

Slated to hit the theatres on 16th Oct ‘09, this oceanic spectacle features Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Rahul Dev and Katrina Kaif.

Dr. A R Rahman has composed the tracks for the film with the winning combination of Resul Pookuty engineering the sound.

SRK gets Shahid, Priyanka, together for MJ tribute

August 30th, 2009 Comments off

Mumbai, Aug 28 (IANS) From Shahid Kapoor to Vishal-Shekhar, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has roped in the biggest names in the business for a music video to pay tribute to the late pop legend Michael Jackson.

Vishal Dadlani of Vishal-Shekhar duo told IANS that it was Shah Rukh’s idea to get a tribute rolling for the music legend who passed away on June 25 this year.

‘The entire world was upset about his demise and so were Shekhar (Ravjiani) and I. We happened to meet Shah Rukh and he also expressed his thought about doing something that would be befitting the stature of the man who entertained us for decades. This is how the idea around the music video was born,’ said Vishal.

It was decided that the music video titled ‘Make it Large – A tribute to Michael Jackson’ would be launched Aug 29 to coincide with Jackson’s 51st birthday. While Vishal also wrote the lyrics for the song, some of the best singers in the industry – Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan, KK and Shreya Ghoshal – were roped in to sing.

‘For the moment, the idea is to launch the music video across all music channels just for one day. It is available on Red Chillies Entertainment website though,’ said Vishal who is currently holidaying in London.

Directed by Samar Khan, ‘Make it Large – A tribute to Michael Jackson’ is also special since it features Prabhu Deva who is yet again seen at his dancing best.

Also, the video features testimonials on Michael Jackson from Shah Rukh Khan himself along with Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Anoushka Sharma and Yuvraj Singh.

Vishal and Shekhar would also be allowing free download of the song at their website beginning Aug 29.

‘The video wasn’t created for making money. It’s a tribute and I am sure there are millions out there who would want to grab a copy of the song for themselves. We are more than glad to share our sentiments with the rest of the world,’ said Vishal.
